Reasons to see Ballet Theatre Houston's The Nutcracker.

  1. It's a classic.  Many dancers , including our company members, first fell in love with dance sitting in the audience of "The Nutcracker."
  2. Cast includes the members of Ballet Theatre Houston who train at Studio of Dance year round for this show and their spring performance. If you know them, you know how much effort they put into this.
  3. Plus, more than 30 younger friends and neighbors are joining in as mice, soldiers, party children and more.
  4. Amazing Guest Artists include Brooklyn Mack, the amazing dancer whose thrilled our audiences time and again from The Washington Ballet; our own Heidi Karel Erickson now with The Ballet Theatre of Maryland; and others. It's a great way to start off the holiday season on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
  5. A great value! See a complete performance of The Nutcracker at a price well below a professional company performance.
  6. Wonderful way to kick off the holiday season with performances before Thanksgiving and at the same time and venue as Cy-Fair Sugarplum Market.
  7. Robert's staging and choreography are fun to watch.  As one parent said, "Our child doesn't dance anymore but we come every year to enjoy this amazing show."
  8. Meet and greet our featured dancers after each performance.

2) We will be set up and auditioning kids from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Come when you can and we'll get you done as quickly as possible.

4) Rehearsal schedules are on Saturday and Sunday afternoons beginning in October until the performances. You will get a schedule on Sunday, Sept 16th.
5) Cost of the audition is $10 and there is a participation fee of $70. The fee includes use of our collection of costumes. Dancers will need to purchase their own shoes, tights... to go with costumes for their roles.
